Lots of old pieces in this outfit, but put together in a new way. I wore the blouse and scarf together this way a couple of years ago. You can't see them in the photos, but the pants actually have a faint pinstripe in them, so I've got some subtle pattern mixing going on. You can treat pinstripes just like solid neutrals.

I love a chunky cable knit sweater for cold days. They just scream cozy. And I still reach for this sweater that I picked up from Old Navy last year. Here is a similar version available this year. I added this knit infinity scarf and thought it still needed a  little more interest, so I added the necklace. Do you ever layer accessories this way?

When it comes to print mixing, I love gingham and floral prints together. This shirt paired perfectly with this tiny floral print dress. Our temps took a 15- 20 degree drop over the weekend, so this was the perfect Sunday outfit for a beautiful day. Warm, but not hot, with a tease of fall coming.

I would have normally went for blue or green accessories with an outfit like this but I chose a white bead necklace and a pair of yellow bead earrings. The yellow makes a nice little pop of color with the green and blue.

Remember this tee from the post two days ago? The same day that I wore it with the skirt, I had a cook out to go to that afternoon. I paired the same top with floral shorts and sandals, and I was ready to go. I went with pink accessories for a little more fun and to balance the navy. And I'll admit I was skeptical of these shorts when I first bought them, but they have been worn lots this summer. I still have a few more ways in mind to wear them.

Basics with a touch of gold

It was 36 degrees Sunday morning but into the 70s by early afternoon. Those days always stump me as to what to wear. The answer is of course, layers. And you can bet a layer got peeled off that afternoon. I also wasn't feeling very creative, so I pulled some very basic pieces and put them together. It's amazing that basics with a few accessories always create an outfit that is beyond basic.

We have had temps in the 80's this week so I had to adjust my wardrobe a little. I don't like to be too non-seasonal at the time regardless of the temps, so I stayed with dark colors but pulled out the nautical top since I'm feeling summer here. I added a couple of pops of red to keep it from being too boring. And don't get too jealous- the temps have crashed from 80 to 40 overnight. I know that 40 would be nice to many of you, but the major fluctuations are annoying.

Bundle up

After a week of pinks and reds, this is what I actually wore on Valentine's Day. It started with a trip to the doctor at the immediate care for a cold/sinus infection. This is the third one in three months so I was not dragging around two weeks trying to fight this off on my own. I caved and got some antibiotics. I quickly shed the scarf too because it wasn't really cold that afternoon, but if I needed to bundle up, this would get the job done.
