Blue and red for Labor Day

shorts- TJMaxx option   option  option
shoes- Payless  option

Something about Labor Day makes me think of red, white and blue. It is an all American day.  For my casual day off work, I've paired a button down with red shorts and some cute flats. This is also the first outfit of my 30x30 for September. You can see my 30 pieces here.

I've previously worn this shirt to work, as seen below:

More white

blouse- old option option
shoes- Amazon    option option option
Worn August 24, 2014

I told you yesterday that I have been wearing white as much as possible lately. I'm sad that this may be the only time this season I wear this skirt. It's a new purchase that I got recently at a great deal. I've been wanting to add a white skirt to my wardrobe for quite some time, and finally did it. Even though it's late in the season, it will still be good for next year.

 I've also been wanting some single strap hot pink sandals, but it took me a while to come up with enough ways that I'd wear them to justify the purchase. It also took some time to find a pair that I thought I'd actually wear the most. I think this type is beautiful, but I wouldn't get the most wear out of a pair of four inch dressy heels. I can't wear them to work, so they would be weekend only. This lower heel will work much better for me.  Thanks to Shanna for linking them up in one of her posts.

More butterflies

Blouse- Old Navy option option option
shorts- Levis dockers/ Ross option
shoes- Old Navy option
necklace- gift option option
Worn August 15, 2014

No, I don't have butterflies in my stomach over anything. I'm just posting a butterfly print blouse two days in a row. They were not worn back to back, but I wanted to post something more interesting than what's next in the chronological lineup. It's a wonder that I don't have a closet full of butterfly prints- I love butterflies. I photograph them all the time and collect items with butterflies on them. They are on the shower curtain, spoon rests, candle holder, etc in my house. You get the picture.

I also wanted you guys to know that I got my hair color redone and the cut trimmed a bit. I'm in a growing out phase and my hair had gotten way out of shape. The last few photos have been awful. Now it's got a little more definition.

I'm not very good with post titles. I'm not very creative with them, but hey, if you're following or checking this out from a link, then you know you're coming to see an outfit. At least I give you a preview of what color it is.

We are way over the Fourth now but I tend to wear these colors year round. This is what I wore on the fourth. I went with more blue and white and toned down the red. Just a touch of it.

I couldn't let the Fourth of July pass without a patriotic outfit post because, well, everyone else was doing it. LOL. I wore this to work yesterday.  I will wear red, white and blue generally anytime of the year. It just works so well. Today I'll be wearing something more relaxed since I don't have to work.

Hope you all have a great day!

Summer wedges

shirt- Loft similar option
skirt- Talbots (thrifted) option option
shoes- Belks (old) option option
worn June 22, 2014

I only got to take a few pictures Sunday before it starting raining. And it was a total down pour. I bought these shoes on clearance a few years back. They get worn a few times each summer. They are not my "go to" wedges but I think I like them more each time I wear them.

Seersucker

Shirt- Old- TJMaxx; skirt- Talbots (thrifted) (seersucker dress)
shoes- Old Navy
earrings and necklace- Target
Worn Sept. 15, 2013

Three of the guys in my office have seersucker suits and I almost purchased the Banana Republic version for women this year but decided it would just be a pricey joke. However, $3 for a skirt from Talbots was a deal I couldn't pass up. I had to go ahead and wear it because it's very "summer" and summer is coming to an end soon.

Boyfriend shorts take 2

Shirt- Ralph Lauren/Macy's; Shorts- Gap
necklace-Groopdealz
shoes- Target
Worn Sept 14, 2013

I wore this on Saturday to the local "Fall Concert" featuring Big Daddy Weave. We went to lunch first and the very young hostess at Ruby Tuesday commented on my necklace and the orange shorts and said they reminded her of fall and not many people can pull off orange. She was very complimentary of my look. So does this mean I pulled off a summer to fall transition with shorts? (even though it's not yet fall on the calendar or the themometer).

Green

Skirt, cardigan, tank- Old Navy;
sandals- Walmart with DIY clips
worn June 23, 2013

I'm not sure this outfit has made it to the blog before, although it was worn frequently two to three years ago. It was one I purchased before the blog and when I would purchase items to "go together" and then think of them as only that one outfit and as if they cannot be mixed. Thank goodness I finally learned to remix. I still like this outfit though. It's  comfortable. And I can wear the skirt many ways. I can think of two other outfits it has been made into, one of them an early spring/winter version, seen here.

Maxing it out

As some of you get ready to say goodbye to summer (it will still be hot here for a while), I thought I'd share some looks with my maxi skirt and an old maxi dress I was able to pull out and wear again this summer. I love maxi skirts/dresses in the summer- so cool and comfy.

 Tshirt- TJMaxx; skirt-thrifted(seen HERE) (similar);
shoes- Walmart; necklace- made by me

White top- thrifted; earrings- made by me
Worn August 2013

Dress-old (option) (option); shoes- Ross;
earrings- gift
Worn June 2, 2013

Funny thing about this dress- I missed it so much when it was too small for me, and now that I am able to wear it again, I've only worn it once. It seems a little tired and drab to me now, but was once a favorite. Funny how we change.

Boyfriend shorts

Shirt/ shorts (exact)- Gap;
sandals- Target
bracelet- made by me
Worn July 2013

I have yet to jump out and try a pair of boyfriend jeans. That's kind of surprising because I tend to go to larger cuts because I'm on the curvy side. I just don't want to look sloppy so I haven't searched for the perfect pair yet. I did however give the Gap boyfriend shorts a try this summer. I have this bright pair and a khaki pair and they have been my go to for shorts all summer. (Well really, they are the only two pair that fit since the weight loss). I'm not so sure from these photos that they are the best look for me, but they sure are comfortable to wear.

White dress -two ways

Dress--Belk; Blazer- Forever 21; bracelet- gift;
shoes- TJMaxx
Worn Aug 18, 2013

Vest- Old Navy; dress- Belk;
belt and shoes- Target
Worn Aug. 18, 2013

I'm trying to wear and post as many summer styles and colors as possible before fall, especially since I just snatched up some of these pieces at end of summer clearance steals. After I purchased the coral blazer, I had it lying across a white jacket and mint shirt- clothes that needed to be put away. I loved the color combo I was seeing and instantly created an outfit in my mind with a white dress, coral blazer and mint accessories. The only problem was that I didn't have a white dress or mint accessories. I still don't have the mint accessories but found a white dress on clearance at Belk for $15.39. I went with turqouise accessories. I wore this outfit to church and then made the dress  more casual for evening services with the belt, vest and sandals. (This version was inspired by this outfit.)

White blazer- just for summer?

Blazer- Ann Klein via Lord and Taylor (similar); blouse- TJMaxx (similar);
pants- JCPenney; shoes- Payless;
necklaces- vintage, ebay, Target
Worn Aug 14, 2013

 I have shopped all summer for a white blazer. The last one I had was not really comfortable and it got a stain on it that I couldn't get out so I got rid of it. I was about to give up. All the blazers were either not the right fit or had three quarter or ruched sleeves. I wanted plain long sleeves. And then I found this one. And for just a little over $29! SOLD!

I put this outfit together based on this one I have pinned:

I created the necklace look with three chains I had on hand. One is doubled around my neck because it' super long.

I have lots of outfits I want to wear with a white blazer, but I some of them will have to wait until the other pieces get altered, like my red skirt- it's too big now.  And should I wait until next summer season? Most of the rules say you can wear white into the winter if you pair it with dark colors. Which "rule" do you adhere to?
