It's not over yet

Summer- it's not over yet, or as we would say here in the south- it AIN'T over yet. Nope, not on the calendar or with the temps, so I'm still going through my summer wardrobe and getting in as much wear as possible. As tempting at the plaids, fur, olive, booties and such may be, summer is not over yet and it' not quite time for them.

I've had this outfit  in my head for almost a year, based on the scarf. I don't know why it took me all summer to finally wear it but here it is. Everything in this post is super old. I do tend to keep and wear things for years, even it I only wear it once or twice a season. It breaks the boredom.

Leopard, grey and mustard

Blazer/skirt- Sears option
blouse- TJMaxx  option  option  option
shoes- DSW option
necklace- Forever21 option
purse- Belks  option  option  option

I love grey and mustard (or yellow) together. Aside from wearing this blouse with teal, grey is the only color I've worn it with. I need to expand this blouse's wear, thus it's in the mix for my 30x30. I'm loving the leopard with this also. I wouldn't normally pair leopard with grey, but the mustard is tying it together nicely.

Pop of green

Blazer/pants- Sears option
sweater- JCPenney
necklace- gift
worn March 14, 2014

I skipped this outfit last week to make my posting schedule more appropriately fit some link ups, but wanted to come back to it. If you have a need for business attire, then you should have a couple of matching power suits in your wardrobe. I have several because my works call for it. This one is not the most structured (nor high quality) suit but I love it's color. A great option to black and it still goes with everything.

Camel skirt suit

Blazer/skirt- Cato
Sweater- Dress Barn
boots- Shoes.com
Worn Jan. 16, 2014

This is a really old outfit that I haven't been able to wear in several years but I'm glad that I held on to it.  I love the cut of the skirt. I need to work on creating some new outfits with it. It doesn't always have to stay paired with it's blazer.

Pinstripes and cap toes

Blazer and pants- JCPenney (old)(option);
blouse- old;
shoes- Ross (similar)

I need to look at replacing this suit. It is several years old and has faded, but lasted long enough for the price paid. My shirt is an old piece too but still going strong. I don't know why I never thought to wear it with this suit, but this is a first. This shirt was the perfect match for my shoes.

Turning 40

Blazer/pants- Sears (similar); shirt- Limited (similar) (similar-(steal))
necklace- Groopdealz (similar)
Worn July 23, 2013

I turned 40 three weeks ago. To brighten myself up, I paired my turqouise bubble necklace with a coral/orange shirt. I left the rest conservative for work. To be honest, I didn't really need cheering up. I'm not sad over being 40- it's quite an accomplishment.

Oxblood blouse

Suit- JCPenney; blouse-Sear's (similar)
Worn November 1, 2012

I had to shop no further than my closet to find a piece in this season's hottest color- oxblood (or wine or burgundy or whatever you call it). I paired it with this suit you've seen many times before.

I think the suit let's the color pop. Just what a color like this should do.

Blue and grey

Suit- Ross; shirt TJMaxx; booties- Sears
Worn: Sept. 17, 2012

I'm still not sure where I got the blue/grey combo inspiration from but I decided to pair the ruffle shirt with my pinstripe suit. The booties add a little fun to it.  I know blue/grey is nothing new or revolutionary, but remember I used to only wear certain items one way. This suit was worn with a purple shirt and this shirt was only worn with a navy suit. I've really come a long way in how I view my closet. Getting dressed is creative and fun, not just a necessity.

Buttercream

Suit- Cato's; shirt and shoes- TJMaxx
Worn May 4, 2012

I've been baking cupcakes lately and when I looked at these pictures, I thought of icing,  hence the title.

I've always gotten compliments on this suit, but I've never been happy with it. I think it's because I was wearing it with a white shirt and black shoes. It just didn't work for me. The colored shirt and nude shoes are much better. And yes that is the same shirt I wore my my cobalt capris.

Blues and greens

Blazer, pants- Sears; shirt- JCPenney's; necklace and shoes- Target
Worn: March 27, 2012

Navy goes with so many other colors. This time I paired it with a teal shirt and layered a turquoise and blue necklace over the ruffles. I also wore a brown belt and shoes- normally I would have went with black.

Here are some more fun blue/green accessories:

Neutrals and leopard

Suit and sweater- JCPenney
Shoes- DSW
Worn: March 20, 2012

Just a classic neutral outfit of black and beige with a pop of leopard in the shoes and necklace. It was a change for me because I have never worn this sweater with this suit- yay for remixing. Remember I'm the one who used to create outfits as if they were uniforms and once one piece was assigned to an outfit, it didn't get worn any other way. Even though this is a very basic outfit, I've come a long way!

A statement

Suit and shirt- Sears
necklace- Belk
shoes- Target
Worn: Work, Feb. 9, 2012

This is another one of my "go to" suits. It's all matchy matchy, but I change it up with different shirts and accessories. Sometimes all you need is a great statement necklace or large pendant.

On safari

Suit-thrifted; blouse- hand me down from mom;
shoes- Mudd
Worn: Feb. 6, 2012

I picked up this suit at Goodwill 6-8 months ago and let it hang in the closet because I needed to sew new hooks on the pants. Why do I put such simple little things off for so long? The jacket isn't the most flattering cut I've worn, but I'm thinking about taking the belt loops off so I can belt it just a tad lower and use different belts. What do you think?

Bubbles

Suit- JCPenny (Worthington seperates)
Blouse- JCPenney
shoes- Mudd
bracelets- Belk's

My shirt looks like it has bubbles on it. That had not occurred to me until just now. Funny the things you notice when you start blogging about your clothes. And yes, you've seen this suit before, but it really does go with most any shirt.

Lilac

Suit- Ross; shirt- ?? TJMaxx or Ross;
shoes- LifeStride via TJMaxx; necklace- made by me
Worn: Feb. 1, 2012

You recently saw this suit. I've put a different shirt, necklace, and shoes with it. It's really not my favorite suit, but some days I just don't feel like being creative. And you can really tell it in these photos- look at those puffy eyes!
