Lots of color

I have been wanting to wear this blouse with this skirt ever since I bought the blouse, but somehow keep overlooking it. It's also been a weird time at work where skirts just wouldn't be appropriate so it's been a while since I've worn a skirt for work. The opportunity finally presented itself last week, so I took it. Lot of color going on here, and speaking of color, how cute are these shoes? Could you pull off a color blocked pump?

Since I have so much color and a bold print going on, I kept the accessories simple- gold tassel necklace and a thin arrow bracelet.

A cardigan over a print blouse+ trousers+ heels has become one of my favorite outfit formulas. It's a little more relaxed than a blazer, but still very office appropriate. This color combination of red, black and white is still one of my favorites too. See how I recently wore this cardigan with other black and white pieces here. And I love how these grey snakeskin heels give a little more contrast and interest than just plain black pumps.

Happy Friday!

Marsala tweed

I purchased this top back in the fall for two reasons- it has my favorite marsala/oxblood/wine color in it, and I knew it would work with my existing wardrobe (last seen here.) I know that I just wore these pants a week ago with black and leopard, but this is one of those pieces that I seem to be stuck on right now and insistent on making outfit after outfit with them. They were a perfect pair to this top.

Who's glad it's Friday? I know I am. It seems to get harder and harder for me to make it through a week.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you got a sneak peek of this outfit last week, as well as a peek of how I took the top pieces to a casual look with jeans and different booties.

I was in a really down mood last week so I had some literal and figurative "grey days". I guess it's fitting that I wore the color two days in a row. I actually found this to be a cozy and comfortable outfit and I love taking my pencil skirts into winter with tights and booties.

I meant to get a post up last Friday but I took the day off work and spent it doing a major closet purge, and didn't get the post up. I can't say that I have that wonderful feeling everyone talks about with "less is more" and I have so much more room in my closet now. I do have a cleaner and more orderly closet but still not the room I'd like to have. I think the issue is that my whole wardrobe goes in there. Sweaters, sweats, tees, and things like that are in my dresser, but every season is in one of those two places. So, I'm curious- do you switch out the items in your closet season to season and store things? and if so, where do you store them? I don't have room to store items elsewhere and in the South we really only have two seasons, not four. Most of my clothing (75-80%)  can be worn year round so there's no real need to store things. If I did, the attic definitely wouldn't be the place because it gets too hot and humid up there in the summer. Dyes and inks would literally run and my clothes would be ruined. I'd love to hear how you handle your wardrobe and storage.

It's really hard to have a capsule because I have a work wardrobe, and a casual one. I'd really like it if the two could merge more. I did let go of a lot of items that I've tried to force myself to wear over the last couple of years because I just don't love them anymore and having them there thinking I should wear them is stressful. It does feel better to not have them there. Some things will be donated and some of it is being listed on Poshmark. Feel free to check out my closet if you like.

Third times a charm

Blazer- Forever 21  option  option
blouse- JCPenney

worn Nov. 30, 2015

These photos aren't the best in the world because it was almost too dark to take photos. I've yet to adapt to the time change, as far as getting photos taken goes. I just can't seem to squeeze out a few extra minutes in the mornings.

I've already paired this blouse with purple and with teal. This time I'm going with the cobalt. I'm going to work through the spectrum of colors and get the most use out of this blouse possible. I love a piece that gives so many possibilities.

Color change

Cardigan - Target  option  option  option  option

last wore this print top with purple and brown. This time I paired it with lighter colored trousers and chose to accent the teal in the top with the cardigan. The color changes make it look like a totally different top.

Are you ready for Thanksgiving? Have you finished your shopping, or are you yet to start? Will you be Black Friday shopping? There have already been some good deals and sales. I think they start earlier every year, but that's fine with me. Just curious, do you get your gifts on Black Friday or shop for yourself?

If you are still  in need of some ideas for gifts, check out my two gift guides- for the hostess and for the workout warrior (includes male and female ideas).
