Sometimes you just need to look polished and professional and not overdone. Those are the days I reach for my black suit. A pastel top and long strand of faux pearls keep it from looking too "heavy" for spring.

This strand of pearls belonged to my aunt who passed away when I was five. My cousin passed on some of her jewelry to me. She was a beautiful red head and loved clothes and jewelry. I'm sure we would have been the best of friends if she had lived longer.

The power of pastels

Blazer- The Limited
pants- The Limited
blouse- The Limited

necklace- thrifted  option
shoes- Payless  option

Sometimes you just want to tone it down a bit but still feel confident and ready to take on the day. A lighter color power suit with a pastel blouse can accomplish just that. I recently updated from an older light grey suit to this one from The Limited. I like having a lighter color suit in my wardrobe for spring and summer. Sometimes navy and black just get too heavy.

Pastel power

Blazer/ pants- Sears (old)  option   option
blouse- Limited  option

How many times and ways can I wear this suit? As many as needed. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, if you work in a business attire environment, a good power suit is a must. A good neutral color one can be paired with an unlimited amount of tops, shoes and accessories. This time I'm pairing my grey suit with a new pink floral top from The Limited. My accessories turned out to be too "matchy" but overall, the look still worked.

Lavender for Easter

Shirt- Liz Claiborne/ JCPenney  option
skirt- old option  total splurge
clutch- thrifted   option  option
shoes- Unlisted/Belk  option
worn April 5, 2015

I wore this for Easter church services and everyone  said you look so "Eastery". Is that a word and does it mean I look like an egg?

These pieces are not part of my capsule. The capsule is work only so weekends and church are free range. I do have a matching jacket for this skirt that made it into the capsule. This set taunts me. It's old (10+ years) but I can still wear it and love it hanging in the closet. I just never know how to wear it other than as a set with a white blouse. Boring to repeat. So the skirt has been salvaged from going to Goodwill by pairing it with this plaid pastel blouse I picked up last year when I realized I didn't have very many pastel shades or "spring" colors in my closet.

Pastel plaid

Blouse- Liz Claiborne/ JCPenney
jeans- Levis
purse- Forever21
shoes- Old Navy
earrings- Target option
Worn April 19, 2014

I've mentioned that I'm trying to add more spring like items to my wardrobe. I'd like to have a few more floral pieces and I popped into JCPenney with a $10 coupon in hand. I found a floral shirt and this one. Plaid! and pastel! I fell in love. I wore this to visit family Easter weekend. It was still a little cool out so I paired it with jeans.
