5 More fall trends to try

Happy Friday and First Day of Fall! It's going to be in the high 80's again, so I don't think mother nature read the calendar. Nonetheless, I can still find ways to incorporate fall trends into my wardrobe. Did you catch my previous 5 fall trends to try post? Here are five more:

Olive swing dress

I have worn this swing dress many ways this summer, some of which did not make the blog. Since olive has become a neutral, year round color, I will be wearing it right into fall.

Long sweater vest

Hat- Old Navy  option  option  option
sweater vest - Nordstrom  option  option  option  option
necklace- Loft  option
bracelet- Alex and Ani  option

This blouse, sweater vest and the booties are some of my Nsale purchases. The blouse and vest are pretty much sold out now, but I've tried to find some similar items. I love the slight boho feel to this outfit. I think I'm going to be wearing this vest a lot during the fall and winter. We have mild winters so I can layer this and feel cozy vibes without being too warm. If you've been looking for a trendy item to add to your fall wardrobe, I'd recommend a long sweater vest.

Are you ready for tonight? We dress up and have other adults and kids who dress up in theme to hand out candy at our house. We are having an evil carnival theme this year. 50-100 kids and adults usually pass through our driveway each year, but who knows, maybe not this year. They have to walk through a clown's mouth to get in and some people are pretty scared of clowns. Ha!

I recently added two new pieces to my wardrobe that have been on a forever wish list- red trousers and an olive blouse that's appropriate for work. I have an olive shirt but it's more on the casual side.  I was perusing the clearance section at Target recently and came across this one. I've also updated the pants wardrobe and decided to add a red pair to the collection. I think they will be a lot of fun.

I don't know what was going on with these photos. My camera was having a hard time focusing. It was just a couple of days before Matthew rolled in and we were beginning to have a lot of wind and rain. The hubby speculated that because the bushes behind me were moving so much the camera didn't know what to focus on. I didn't take time to try manual focus because that's really difficult when you are using a remote. I have yet to have a chance to take photos again since I took these so I'm hoping my camera and lens are okay.

Fall transition outfit for date night

The hubby and I have both been sick and under the weather since the weekend so I haven't felt much like taking outfit photos. Since I don't have a real outfit for you today, here's one I created all from Nordstrom. Each item is currently on sale. I've yet to invest in a moto or biker jacket because we have so little cold weather, but it could make a nice piece for cool evenings out.  I think this outfit would make a fun fall date night outfit. A little girly and a little edgy.

Olive and plaid

sweater- JCP   option
jeans- Loft   option
scarf- Asos  option  option  option
boots- Nordstrom  option   option
bracelet- JCP  option   option
worn Jan. 17, 2016

How do you stay warm without over layering? Add a blanket scarf. I recently picked up this olive (oregano) high/low tunic sweater from JCPenney with a gift card and I knew my blanket scarf would be the perfect match. The sweater is pretty great on its own- vneck, super soft and longer in the back.  I 've seen my blanket scarf lying next to my olive utility vest and loved how it looked against olive (an outfit with those two pieces is coming too).  I also love the contrast of cognac boots against black. I'm pretty sure there was a day that I would not have worn brown on black, but I love it now.

My only complaint about a blanket scarf is that it doesn't work well with my hair. It's not long enough to flow over nor short enough to stop short of so it kind of just bubbles up on top of the scarf. Oh well- just something I'll tolerate for a while. There was too much going on around my face with the hair and scarf, so no earrings. I opted for a chunky bracelet to accessorize a little more.
