Let's have a word- best word floppy hats

Word floppy hats have been pretty popular the last couple of summers, and they are still going strong this year. I've rounded up a dozen of the best.

Long sweater vest

This blouse, sweater vest and the booties are some of my Nsale purchases. The blouse and vest are pretty much sold out now, but I've tried to find some similar items. I love the slight boho feel to this outfit. I think I'm going to be wearing this vest a lot during the fall and winter. We have mild winters so I can layer this and feel cozy vibes without being too warm. If you've been looking for a trendy item to add to your fall wardrobe, I'd recommend a long sweater vest.

Are you ready for tonight? We dress up and have other adults and kids who dress up in theme to hand out candy at our house. We are having an evil carnival theme this year. 50-100 kids and adults usually pass through our driveway each year, but who knows, maybe not this year. They have to walk through a clown's mouth to get in and some people are pretty scared of clowns. Ha!

Fall floppy hat

Hat- Old Navy  option  option option
blouse- Pleione via TJMaxx  option  option

jeans- Belk  option option

booties- JCP  similar  option
I bought this hat last year and never wore it. I love the color. I'm guessing you've figured that out by now- the last few posts here and on Instagram have been with burgundy or olive. Those have been my go to colors so far this fall. I decided it was time to put this hat to use. I've decided after evacuating for Hurricane Matthew that it's time to put lots of things to use or get rid of them. What's the point of possessions that just lay around and serve no purpose?
Last year I pretty much wore this outfit in a work  version- tunic, grey trousers, scarf. It was fun to wear the blouse and scarf in a more casual look.

Nordstrom sale outfit ideas

The Nordstrom anniversary sale is open for public access today. If you have been watching or thinking about some items and wondering how to wear them, let me show you. I've created three outfits from the items I put in my picks, plus a few extras.  Outfits #1 and #3 would be perfect for fall.

Outfit #1

Nordstrom fall outfit
Panacea Beaded Circle Pendant Necklace • $15.90

TOMS Majorca Peep Toe Bootie • Toms • $59.97
NYDJ 'Ami' Colored Stretch Super Skinny Jeans (Regular & Petite) • NYDJ • $75.90

If the sweater has sold out and not restocked, you could always substitute this sweater, this sweater or this top for late summer/early fall.

Outfit #2

I've already got a similar tunic sweater I bought from Nordstrom last year and I've got boyfriend jeans in my closet. The scarf,   bracelet,  and booties are hopefully on their way to me and I can't wait to wear this outfit. I hope the booties fit.  This scarf would work too.

Ya'll, I'll admit I've had a difficult time getting into the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Everyone says it's one of the best ones ever, but I've been seeing everyone's picks and posts and I've not been overly impressed.  It's just that it's so hot here, and we may be wearing shorts into October, it's hard for me to even fathom that I need anything for fall.

Are you tired of seeing the same ol' thing over and over? I am. Just sayin. I know there are some popular items we all like, but I get tired of seeing them. But I will admit that the more I see the posts and the more I search the website, the more things grow on me. So I've been searching for some things that can be worn early fall in the South and layered later in the winter. I've also tried to pick some things that haven't been posted over and over, and I kept it under $100. I don't know about your, but some things just aren't in my budget, even on sale.

I will also be sharing a business professional set of picks later, so make sure you are following me so you won't miss it. There truly are lots of great items out there and it's hard to stick them all in one post.

It's a great time to stock up on some classics and basics or dip your toes into a trend. The skinny neck scarf is coming onto the scene, so now might be a good time to give this trend a try. They have one in a floral print too. If you need boots, buy them now. I bought my cognac riding boots last year, so I don't need any this year. I've got the boots covered with a cognac pair, black pair, and a couple of heeled pairs for work. That's another reason I can't get into the sale- I've got most of my basics covered.

We are in the early access phase so you need a Nordstrom debit or credit card to shop. Sign up here.

 Happy Shopping!

A little boho

necklace- Stella and Dot
hat- Target option  option  option

Here's the outfit I envisioned when I first wore this blouse. I wore it as business attire here but was picturing it with something a little more "boho".  I think it works either way.

I meant for this to be last Friday's post but it didn't happen. Sometimes life gets in the way of blogging. I filled my house with smoke last Thursday morning while trying to microwave a sweet potato. I don't really know what happened. After about 10 minutes the thing was completely charred and on fire. The plate it was on cracked in half. I've never had this issue. I made sure to poke holes in the potato so it didn't explode, but still had an absolute mess. There as extra work with cleaning up the house and then I had to leave early Friday morning so there was no time for a post.

Here's to a better week!

Super quick post because I'm running late. I had an awesome but busy weekend.
I have always worn this skirt in a super casual way before and never thought of wearing it with heels or "dressed up." Inspiration came from Megan's Moda. I reversed the striped piece and went with a striped tee and solid maxi skirt. I loved the result. I didn't wear the floppy straw hat but tried it on for kicks while taking pictures.

Here are two other casual ways I've worn this skirt:
