4 Ways to Wear a Faux Fur Stole

The faux fur stole can be a fun piece to have in your closet. I grabbed one at the end of the 2016 season on clearance. They haven't been the most popular, over the top item, but you do see them here and there. I think they will always be a classic in some ways. So if you have seen them and been curious about how to wear them, here are four ways I wore mine this winter.

A super casual weekend outfit and Five things for Friday

I'm so glad we finally made it to Friday. I probably say that every week, but this has been a really tiring week. It doesn't help that I started Monday by going to work at 6:30 a.m. Starting the week sleep deprived it just no good!

Winter neutrals

Scarf- Banana Republic (sold out) option  option
shirt- Old Navy (old)  option
jeans- Loft
cardigan- JCP option  option
clutch- Nordstrom option in other colors  option  option
booties- JCP (sold out)  option  option
worn Feb. 28, 2016

Our little cold snap gave me a chance to wear this faux fur scarf I picked up after Christmas from Banana Republic, or should I say ordered online. I live nowhere close enough to "pick up" anything. Thank goodness for the mail, Fed Ex and UPS, even though I sometimes curse them for damaging my stuff.

I was inspired by Glistening Ambition to wear these pieces together. Her cardigan has fur attached, but it was still inspiration enough to layer my scarf with my cardigan.

Have plaid and fur become synonymous in the fashion world, like plaid and fall or winter? It's a likely pairing you will see on any given fashion blog, at least the plaid shirt and a vest of some type. I've paired my faux fur vest with a plaid dress and riding boots. It was perfect for a church on a cool Sunday and for attending a baby shower that afternoon.

5 ways to wear a faux fur vest

The faux fur vest is a piece that intimidates many. But it doesn't have to be that way. It's a matter of finding what works for you. I don't care for heavy thick "hairy" looking vest, but I snatched this one up on clearance four years ago and I haven't looked back. It works for me. Whatever your preference in a vest, here are five ways to wear it.

1. Over a sweater
2. With a sweater dress
3. With black
4. With plaid and jeans
5. With a pencil skirt and booties

The possibilities are endless. I have three more vest outfits in mind that I haven't worn yet.

Finds under $25- Saturday Shopping

Let's face it, most of us are spent out after Christmas. We made a resoulution to save money, spend less. If this is you and you still want to shop, you're still in luck. There are some major sales out there right now on things you can wear for a few more months and even into spring. Here are ten picks under $25! (Final prices come in under $25 after codes and automatic discounts at the retailer's site.) Some sizes are limited.

Faux fur vest

Vest- Belk's (old) option  option  option
skirt- Belks (old)  option  option
shirt- Loft  option
booties- TJMaxx  option
bracelets- Ann Taylor/ BR option  option
worn Feb. 1, 2015

I'm running out of ideas for Sunday outfits. I think it's the weather. It's beginning to behave like it's going to transition to spring but it's not quite time.  I pulled some inspiration to pair my vest with a skirt from this pin and pulled the color combo from this one. It was warm enough for bare legs but cool enough for the vest.

I wore this to a family Christmas get together (yes, I'm that far behind with outfit posts) but I think it would be a cute Valentine date night outfit. What do you think?

Oxblood and faux fur

shirt- Old Navy; vest- Belk's;
pants - Target; shoes- Target
Worn Nov. 25, 2012

After getting these pants hemmed, I put them to good use. I think I wore them twice in a week. The first time you saw them, many of you thought they were part of a suit. Nope. Just a fun pair of pants all by themselves.

Bengal

Turtleneck-?? (old); pants- Belk's-(a couple of years ago);
vest- Belk's - clearance
bracelet- made by me
Worn: Feb. 12, 2012

I scored another faux fur vest on clearance. And I've managed to wear this one twice here at the end of winter, although this is likely the only view you will see this year. And my title has nothing to do with this post other than the fact that the first thing I thought of was a bengal tiger when I looked at these photos.

Faux fur

Shirt- Dress Barn; vest- Belks; skirt- Sear's;
boots- JCPenney; necklace- ??; bracelet- made by me
Worn: February 4, 2012

I don't like to pay a lot for trends that don't stick around but I really wanted a faux fur vest. I was also picky about it- I didn't want one that was really bulky. Solution- faux fur collar sweater vest on clearance at Belk's- $14.99 minus a little more that day. I forget how much the extra discount was- I was happy with $14.99. Now, I just hope this stays popular for another season because we don't have much cold weather left here.
