The Best of 2017

Where did this year go? It can certainly take it's stress and disappointments with it. We've had enough of that. I'm looking forward to better things next year.

Instead of rounding up the top 10 or 12 or so most viewed posts, I decided to see what was the most viewed post of each month. It's only fair to the posts from the last couple of months that haven't been up as long, lol.

So without any further delay, I bring you the best of 2017.

Shopping day outfit

Blouse- Ralph Lauren (thrifted)  option  option
jeans- Loft
shoes- Payless   option  option  option
necklace- online boutique  splurge   option  option

I had a day off last week for an out of town doctor's appointment. I knew I would be dressing and undressing so a casual button up was the way to go. Plus, doctor visits are no fun so I had to reward myself with a little shopping afterwards, and button ups make trying on clothes easier for me. No pulling shirts over the head and worrying about getting make-up on them. Easy slip on ballets flats,  a long necklace that slips easily over the head and comfy jeans complete a shopping outfit. A crossbody bag also makes hands free shopping. My bag isn't pictured because it bit the dust that day. It was promptly replaced with a new saddlebag crossbody (similar to this one in tobacco).

Speaking of shopping, I walked the mall but only made two purchases- these shorts from Loft (still 50% off)  and these (in tearose, they're still on sale too) from JCPenney. You can see these from JCPenney on Instagram now and hopefully I'll be styling the striped ones soon.

A whole mall- and nothing really spoke to me. I guess I'm happy with my current wardrobe or just unwilling to pay full prices. I don't know. Shopping in store didn't do much for me although I have since stalked some store websites for sales on a couple of things that did catch my eye. I just found it odd that I had money saved up and spent less than $50. Maybe it just took that day to get the creative juices flowing.  Hubby and I hit a Tanger outlet last weekend and I had a field day in the Loft outlet. I've also made some Old Navy rewards purchases from the local store, but I think I've come to the conclusion that I like online shopping better than in store. What about you? How do you like to shop?

Lady like

Blouse- Target (old)  option  option  option
skirt- Dorothy Perkins (old)  option  option  option
shoes- TJMaxx (old)  option   option   option
earrings- Sears  option  option

I like to experiment with different styles and trends from time to time, and one I really like is dressing up in something "lady like" for church. This skirt always fits that bill. I'm also stretching my wardrobe and looking for more ways to wear this blouse. After pairing it with the soft pink blazer, I decided it needed to be worn with this skirt. I loved how this outfit turned out.

What styles do you like to revisit?

Again

Blazer- Banana Republic via Thred Up option option
blouse- Target
skirt- Limited  option  option
shoes- Payless  option  option
worn May 13, 2015

I promise I don't wear this blazer more than once a week. You are seeing it and some other pieces on repeat this week because I got out of order with my posting.

But if I did wear it more than once a week, who cares? I love it. And I loved it paired with this equally bright green skirt. The Target top was the perfect piece to bring the two together.

Happy Friday! and Happy Memorial Day. For most of us in the U.S., that means a long weekend. May we not forget how hard earned this one was for all of our veterans.

Silver shoes

Blazer- Ross  option
blouse- JCPenney  option  option  option
skirt- JCPenney
necklace- thrifted  option
shoes- Banana Republic  option  option
worn May 11, 2015

The silver shoes were a last minute decision. I had originally planned to wear black pumps but then I thought about the silver shoes and decided they would go nicely with the grey blazer. I'm glad I decided on them, even though I got a strange look from security at my office building. Then again the same guy was looking at my "field" footwear the next day, so maybe he has a shoe or foot fetish.

I know I'm always vague about work but it's a policy to not discuss or list our place of work on social media, so I keep the details off the blog. I know that I've referred to field attire before, and while I can't explain it's purpose, let's just say it's functional but not fashionable so you will never see it here.  Curiosity is killing you , isn't it?

Spring suit

Blazer/ pants- JCPenney (old) similar  option
blouse- Target
necklace- Sears  option  option
shoes- Belk similar
worn April 20, 2015

I'm finally posting the last outfit of April. Now I should only be about a week behind with what I'm posting. At least I'm keeping it real and I really wear these clothes. This is a simple pairing but perfect for spring. The lighter color suit and floral top are a welcome change from the darker greys and blacks worn during the winter.
