Old Navy haul- try on session

Happy Saturday! Instead of my usual round up I thought I'd share my recent Old Navy haul with you in the form of a try on session. Excuse the dirty mirror, messy room and wet hair. This is real life.

First up is the crochet lace yoke shift dress. It's a cute dress in a perfect color for fall. It's thin but perfect for our warm falls. My only complaint is that it's tight under the arms and has a weird fit due to the crochet top going over part of the sleeve. I'm wearing a small but might try a medium if my store has one. Other than the underarms, it fits well.

Here's the back and a close up of the texture of the top.

Hello there sweatshirt- Definitely a keeper. Super soft, not too thick and not too slouchy. Wearing a small.

Floral midi skirt- yes I layered over the dress. I wish it had pockets but it's a cute skirt with lots of potential.

Flutter sleeve waisted midi- it's longer than a midi on me. I ordered it in a regular because petite wa not available. This dress is lined and I love the sleeves. I'm undecided about the length. It would probably look better on me the length of the above skirt.

Open front tassel hem cardigan- small. The sleeves are snug on this and they don't layer well over other tops but might work well with tanks and sleeveless tops. I'm on the fence about it. The tassels tend to get tangled together too.

Print dress

Dress- (old)  option  option  option   option
shoes- Target  option  option  option
necklace- Kendra Scott
bracelets- made by me  option  option   option

A "go to" easy one piece dress is something I think everyone should have in their closet. I don't wear dresses much but there are some days when I just can't even think in the mornings and a piece like this helps me get out the door quickly. It can be dressed up or down based on shoe choice and accessories. A dress like this can also be changed with the addition of a jacket or blazer and tights and boots for winter.

Did you have a good weekend? I did some much needed house cleaning and made some more bracelets. I've got to have that balance of chores and creative time to keep me sane.

Last chance picks

It's getting close to the close of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Prices will go up August 8. If you haven't caught on to all the hype about this sale yet, this is new fall merchandise discounted up front, not like getting clearance later.

Here are some final picks of items to grab before the sale ends. The BlankNYC jacket has been really popular and is available in only a size or two. If you have ever considered getting a Clarisonic Mia, now is the time. This price is cheaper than Black Friday sale prices. I got one for Christmas last year and we paid more, but I like it for skin cleansing and exfoliation. If you want to try new beauty products, special kits like this are usually a deal and a great way to try a whole set at less cost than purchasing separately.

Brighten my day

Dress- old  option  option  option
Jacket- Old Navy  option  option
shoes- Old Navy (old)  option   option   option   option
necklace- online boutique  option  option
earrings- Jane.com option  option  option

A sunny yellow dress and some bright statement jewelry are just the thing to brighten my day. I was inspired by Molly to wear my denim jacket and wedges with this dress. I usually wear this as a dressier look, but I like the casual vibe going on here. It was cool enough for the jacket but I added a necklace instead of a scarf because I knew it would get pretty warm in the afternoon.

Who has inspired you lately? and what brightens your day?

Gingham and floral

Shirt- TJMaxx  option  option
dress- old- Old Navy  option  option
shoes- Old Navy  option  option  option
necklace- Target  option
earrings- Belk  option
worn Sept. 13, 2015

When it comes to print mixing, I love gingham and floral prints together. This shirt paired perfectly with this tiny floral print dress. Our temps took a 15- 20 degree drop over the weekend, so this was the perfect Sunday outfit for a beautiful day. Warm, but not hot, with a tease of fall coming.

I would have normally went for blue or green accessories with an outfit like this but I chose a white bead necklace and a pair of yellow bead earrings. The yellow makes a nice little pop of color with the green and blue.

Can't please them all

Dress- old- Belk  option  option   option
scarf- Cato  option   option
shoes- Nine West via Amazon   option   option
worn June 14, 2015

The title of this post was the result of a comment I just received. Someone said they had not been enjoying the pants and sensible shoes looks I've been posting and hope to see more skirts. It doesn't really bother me, it just goes to show- you can't please them all. It also shows that this person may only be looking at pics and not reading. If you truly follow and read, you know I've had tendonitis in my foot and high heels cause it to flare up so I've been wearing flats for a couple of weeks to heal my foot. I'm not a fan of flats either but I share what I REALLY wear, not a fairy tale made up outfit just for a blog post. You've probably also heard me say before that some days at work aren't real practical for skirts and I've had a lot of those days lately. I have to save skirts for Sundays during these times.

Speaking of Sundays, I wore this to church a couple of weeks ago. I've had this dress for four years. Sometimes plain solids get boring to me. I was inspired by Extra Petite to add a scarf. I've also had the idea for pops of pink since last year. Finally got to put the two together. I'm also wanting to wear this with my floral pumps, but you know that tendonitis thing is in the way right now.

Here's how I've worn this in the past:

If you are new to my blog, welcome! I share mostly work related attire with some casual and semi- casual thrown in here and there. Thanks for stopping by and following.

Belted cardigan

Cardigan- JCPenney  option  option
dress- Old Navy  option  option
belt- Limited  option  option
shoes- Unlisted via Belk  option
worn May 3, 2015

I have decided that the belted cardigan look is not for me. I've tried it a couple of other times and it just does not flatter. I have a short torso and belting a cardigan tends to emphasize that and make me look thicker. If a cardigan doesn't lay nice and smooth it adds more rolls and bulges. Who wants that?

I could have ditched this post but I decided to share it anyway because the outfit idea might still work for someone else. It might also help someone evaluate what works or doesn't work for them and why. I love this look on others.

What fashion trend or practice works or doesn't work for you?
