How to wear colored denim and Five for Friday

Colored denim- it's been in and out of my closet and life over the last ten years. I've had green jeans and hot pink jeans. Colored denim or bright pants seem to have a renewed interest this spring so I added a pair of Old Navy Mid-rise pop color Rockstars in coral pink to my closet.

I decided to brighten up the greys with a little color.(see this suit HERE with polka dots.) When the temps start rising, I start thinking about spring and color. I've worn something similar to this before, but the shoes are a new addition.
I love how this color pops against the grey. These are from the Payless comfort line- one of my favorite shoes, and at 29.99, or 19.99 on sale, they are similar. Sorry, I can't link to them, but I've linked to some other shoes in similar colors.

Do you have a favorite brand of shoes? Please share, I'd love the hear. One of my other favorites in a reasonable price range is Ann Klein.

I've worn this blazer/pants combo before with blue, but not with blue pinstripes. I can't remember adding this necklace to these pieces before but blue and coral are a fun combination in small does, so this makes my old faithful basics seem fresh.  Sometimes I think I just can't get any more out of my closet, and at other times, the options seem endless. I love it when the later is going on.

Everyone is in full on fall mode now, but I could not resist wearing these floral pumps one last time last week before fall officially came in on the calendar. The last time I wore them I was studying the colors in them and noticed teal and coral were prevalent. It's usually the pink that catches my eye, but this time the other colors won my attention. From there, the rest of the outfit came together. Thank you floral pumps for a fresh and new way to wear this blazer. It was getting tired.

A look back at how I wore this blazer a couple of years ago:

And how I wore it last year:

I forgot my shoes

I wore some cute Mary Jane pumps with this outfit but also took these flats because I was concerned about the pumps being comfortable. They are one of the pairs that was given to me by my coworker and they were a little tight. I ended up wearing these flats at the end of the day for errands and forgot to bring the pumps home. So... you get the flats version. And you may see me in flats more and more because I have been struggling with some tendonitis in my left foot and knee pain in the right knee. I thought it was from running or exercise but I've begun to notice that even when I lay off the exercise, the foot pain flares up. Based on some research and self diagnosis, it's the constant wearing of high heels that may be causing this. So.... ice, ibuprofen and flats. Poo! I'm otherwise comfortable in heels and think they look so much better with dress clothes.

Black, white and a pop of color

I love black and white with a pop of color. You've seen me use this formula many times and you will see it again.  The blouse is a recent purchase, prior to the capsule. But let me say, I'm not limiting shopping during the capsule. If I see something at a good deal that will work year round or going forward to summer, I'm purchasing it. In fact, I bought three more pairs of shoes lasts week. Oh my! Two of them are comfort flats for running through the airport. Yep, I'm on a work related trip and I'm not so airport savvy. I've also got a short time frame on arrival from the conference to the return take off, so I needed some comfortable flats that would pass as business casual. I may be in an all out sprint once I clear check in. Fingers crossed and lots of prayers please!

Back to the outfit- I promise this blazer is coral. The last couple of times I've photographed it, it appears more pink. But I promise there is an orange tint there. And I didn't do a good job of capturing the necklace, it's best seen here.

Coral and leopard

This blazer is part of a matching pants suit. While very functional, I find it very boring. I've worn the suit with all sorts of colors and printed tops, but no matter what I find it boring. So I separated it and paired the jacket with different pants and a blouse I've never worn with it. Oh the benefits of remixing. Stretching the wardrobe a little farther. Leopard heels and my new necklace add a little more interest.

How are your New Year's goals and resolutions coming? I didn't really set any but so far I'm in a good rhythm of keeping up with the blogging and getting a few things done in the evenings. There was a time when all I could muster was dinner and the dishes after work, but a new year has given me a new energy.
