Shopping day outfit

Blouse- Ralph Lauren (thrifted)  option  option
jeans- Loft
shoes- Payless   option  option  option
necklace- online boutique  splurge   option  option

I had a day off last week for an out of town doctor's appointment. I knew I would be dressing and undressing so a casual button up was the way to go. Plus, doctor visits are no fun so I had to reward myself with a little shopping afterwards, and button ups make trying on clothes easier for me. No pulling shirts over the head and worrying about getting make-up on them. Easy slip on ballets flats,  a long necklace that slips easily over the head and comfy jeans complete a shopping outfit. A crossbody bag also makes hands free shopping. My bag isn't pictured because it bit the dust that day. It was promptly replaced with a new saddlebag crossbody (similar to this one in tobacco).

Speaking of shopping, I walked the mall but only made two purchases- these shorts from Loft (still 50% off)  and these (in tearose, they're still on sale too) from JCPenney. You can see these from JCPenney on Instagram now and hopefully I'll be styling the striped ones soon.

A whole mall- and nothing really spoke to me. I guess I'm happy with my current wardrobe or just unwilling to pay full prices. I don't know. Shopping in store didn't do much for me although I have since stalked some store websites for sales on a couple of things that did catch my eye. I just found it odd that I had money saved up and spent less than $50. Maybe it just took that day to get the creative juices flowing.  Hubby and I hit a Tanger outlet last weekend and I had a field day in the Loft outlet. I've also made some Old Navy rewards purchases from the local store, but I think I've come to the conclusion that I like online shopping better than in store. What about you? How do you like to shop?

Heavy rotation

Blazer- Forever 21  option  option
blouse- JCrew Factory  option  option   option
pants- Limited
shoes- TJMaxx  option  option   option

This blazer stays on heavy rotation in my wardrobe. If you don't have a cobalt blazer, I recommend one. You can wear it with any color you wear navy with, but it gives a little more summery feel than navy. You can ever wear it with navy like I did here.

Don't forget that the Nordstrom half yearly sale is still going on for a few more days. Here are a few more picks:

Blues and greens

As noted yesterday, the weather just would not cooperate last week. Here's an outfit I came up with for work that I really liked. I love the blues and greens together.

Cardigan - Old Navy  option
pants-  Loft  option
shoes- Ann Klein  similar  option
scarf- thrifted option  option  option

Here's another look at what my outfit consists of:
blue and green

Pictured:

 Factory classic button-down shirt • J.Crew Factory • $44.50
Louise et Cie Octagonal Stud Earrings • Louise et Cie • $48
Charter Club Petite Tummy-Control Ankle Pants, Only at Macy's • Charter Club • $54.99
Anne Klein Melanie • Anne Klein • $69
Echo Design Paper Poppies Square • Echo • $68
St. John's Bay Button-Front Cardigan Sweater • $36

It's the same formula as yesterday- button down+cardigan+ pants+ scarf. You can create so many options with just a simple formula.

Thanks for stopping by.

Improvising

Scarf- gift  option
blouse- JCP  option
pants- Loft
shoes- Payless  option
cardigan- JCP option
earrings- Tuesday Morning option  option

Last week's weather (wind and rain) didn't lend itself to taking outfit photos. You will have to make do with an Instagram photo and a collage of the outfit. It's a very simple formula I pulled from Classy Yet Trendy's book - The Workwear Capsule. I haven't created a spring work capsule per say, I'm just using the outfits for formulas and tweaking it to work for me. Any coordinating color scheme would work for this- white button up+ trousers+ cardigan+ scarf+ pumps. Go with a neutral cardigan and any scarf in your closet will work. I just happened to want to brighten up my look with a butterfly scarf and snakeskin pumps for a little more interest and texture.

Orange you glad

belt- Target
necklace- pendant (old)  option   option

Orange you glad... it's fall? it's almost Friday? Cheesy title, I know. I sometimes struggle to come up with a catchy title or really anything to say. I have been told by a reader that they like my blog because I don't ramble about a lot of unrelated things and get right to the outfit details. So I guess it's a good thing I don't always have a lot to say.

I got this cardigan a couple of years ago and love to wear it each fall. I've paired it with black and polka dots before and with navy. This is a first with grey and leopard, and I love this combination.

Or button down? Which is it? I think some use it interchangeably now. I think the correct use is button down for men's shirts with button down collars. A button up is a man or woman's shirt that buttons up the front. Either way, mine is wildy patterned and bright.

I've worn this shirt before under a sweater:
