What to wear to the office holiday daytime party

We tend to have our office holiday parties during the day time, usually at lunch. Even though the rest of my day is spent doing normal work things and my attire has to fit work, I still want to look a little festive for the parties.

Easy neutral look with a pop of burgundy

You last saw me wear this suit as an all neutral look with leopard pumps. This time I picked a blouse with fall colors and played up the burgundy.

I certainly wore a lot of marsala/oxblood/burgundy last month, and I'm not apologizing for it. I couldn't help but get this patterned top when I saw the colors. I know I wore these shoes at least three times in close proximity. Again, no apologies. When I love it, it wear it.

So a week of daylight savings time has passed. It is totally wrecking my ability to take outfit photos. I have only managed to adjust my schedule once to be able to take photos before I leave in the morning. When I get home, it's dark. I did a little photo shoot last Saturday to catch up with what I wore last week, but I won't be able to do that every Saturday. How do you deal with the time change?

Branching out

I branched out here with the colored shoes in this outfit, but not too far. I would have normally worn navy or black shoes with this outfit but I was drawn to Bridgette Raes' use of versions of red and green together, as seen here and here. Technically it's burgundy and teal, but my first response to this combination was fear of looking like a Christmas tree. I finally got over that and decided it would be far more interesting than would I would have normally done (black or navy) and tried it. And guess what? I like it.

Here's my safer version of this outfit worn over a year ago (ignore the horrible color cast of the photo)

Plaid ankle pants

I didn't get this post up this morning like I wanted to. I had issues with my computer. That should be remedied soon because I've got a new one. I've just got to learn it and get some of the contents of the old one transferred over. Anyone using Windows 8.1? I'm a little lost right now.

Hope you all had a good week. Mine has been exhausting but exciting things are in store for us, so hopefully the extra work will be worth it.

About these pants- they don't  have a bit of burgundy/red/oxblood in them but certainly pair well with this color. I got the idea straight from the Loft website.

It's the last day of 2014. I had to say it, everyone else has been talking about it. I don't get too nostalgic about the years. I've stopped making resolutions. I just strive to keep moving forward and doing better. The older I get, the more I realize that some seasons of life don't care what the calendar says. They don't necessarily start and stop with the ending or beginning of a new year. And I'm okay with that. I will admit that for the last two years we have been in a season I'd like to see end, but it could be worse, so I'll just trust that God knows best and in His time, it will pass.

Happy New Year to all of you! I hope it holds good things for you.

I love the neutral looks we are seeing everywhere this fall. I started out October with a strictly business look in neutrals and added a pop of fall color. I mentioned that I had considered a capsule wardrobe for ninety days but I couldn't narrow down my choices. Had I gone forward with it, these pieces would have been part of it and I'm sure you will be seeing them again. For a long time, I've not utilized the white button up but now I'm being drawn to it over and over again. Maybe it will finally get some use and become that "wardrobe item every woman should have" for me.

Below are ways I wore this suit last fall/winter:
