Suprising color combo

Blazer- Old  option    option
blouse- JCPenney
pants- JCPenney  option
shoes- Payless option  option
Worn May 7, 2015

I have to try really hard to find ways to wear this jacket apart from it's matching bottom so I was really surprised to see that it worked so well with the chartreuse top. Not so sure the fit of the overall outfit worked for me, but nonetheless, I like the color combo.

Happy Friday!! The days and weeks seem to get longer and busier and I'm exhausted. So happy it's Friday.

The other half of Lavendar

Blazer- old   option   option   option
blouse- Loft via Poshmark  option     option
necklace- Banana Republic (old)  option   option
shoes- Banana Republic   option   option

This blazer is the other half of the matching suit set I talked about here. The one that taunts me. So I put the blazer in my spring capsule. It's my challenge piece. I like this pairing better than the last couple of times I tried to wear it. I've also cut off the inside buttons and tabs. It just didn't look good buttoned and the buttons/closures looked silly dangling unbuttoned.

The silver shoes were an impromptu add on. I had planned to wear nude shoes because of the pattern and all the colors here but I was in a hurry and found these first. I thought, lavender, blue, silver- that could work so on the feet they went and out the door I was.

Lavender for Easter

Shirt- Liz Claiborne/ JCPenney  option

I wore this for Easter church services and everyone  said you look so "Eastery". Is that a word and does it mean I look like an egg?

These pieces are not part of my capsule. The capsule is work only so weekends and church are free range. I do have a matching jacket for this skirt that made it into the capsule. This set taunts me. It's old (10+ years) but I can still wear it and love it hanging in the closet. I just never know how to wear it other than as a set with a white blouse. Boring to repeat. So the skirt has been salvaged from going to Goodwill by pairing it with this plaid pastel blouse I picked up last year when I realized I didn't have very many pastel shades or "spring" colors in my closet.

Light colored shoes

I don't normally wear light colored shoes with dark pants. Any thoughts on  that from you guys? I have no problem wearing a colored shoe but otherwise, I tend to stick with dark for dark pants and skirts and light for light pants and skirts. Of course, nude shoes can go with anything, but outside of that, I usually stay with my rule. However, I'm bored with winter and decided maybe I could change the outfits up a bit by rotating through my shoes that haven't been worn. So... this is the result. I like it.

Thoughts on pastels

I could not wait any longer to break out of the winter routine and wear something with a spring touch, so I pulled out these pieces last week. I'm not sure that this really "worked." Do you have that issue with outfits? You know what you are going for, but it just doesn't work? I couldn't decide what would make it work, so you have three versions- blouse tucked/open jacket, blouse tucked/closed jacket, and untucked and open jacket. First off, I think it would work better with cream or ivory pants or white pants, but I don't have any. I need to fix that because every time I try to think up a spring ensemble, one of those color pants comes to mind as a base, especially if there is a lot of pastel up top, like this.

Which brings me to my thoughts on pastels... My co-worker complimented me and said I looked all "Eastery". Wait, was that a compliment? Did she mean I looked like an Easter egg? That's my fear and dislike of pastels, that I will look like an Easter egg. I like pastels done right in small doses with other neutrals, but too many, is... well, just an Easter egg. I guess I just like "summer brights" better.

What are you thoughts? What would make this work, or should I just scrap it? What do you think about pastels?

Pastel for fall

Jacket- old (option); blouse- old;
pants- TJMaxx (similar)
shoes- Payless
Worn Sept. 10, 2013

Boucle or tweed? I'm going with boucle for this jacket. I've also seen them used together to describe material. So which is it? I've had this jacket forever and it has a matching skirt. I've seen that pastels are going to be trendy for fall so I pulled this out of the back of the closet.

On another note, I'm not really comfortable with bright red lipstick. I'm trying it out again. Any suggestions?
