Baby, blue ain't your color

Blue looks good on the sky, looks good on that neon buzzin' on the wall, but darling it don't match your eyes (Keith Urban lyrics).

Upping the game with accessories

Lately I've felt like my clothes and outfits have been on repeat so I've been changing things up just a bit with accessories. I tend to go to red with this blazer because of the red polka dot cuffs, but I decided to add a pop of turquoise this time with the necklace. I love red and turquoise together. I recently wore this blazer and pants with yellow (cuffs down) and added a pop of turquoise with that outfit as well. Here are the same pieces with different shoes and accessories.

How do you change up the same ol' same ol' outfit?

How to wear a pale yellow blouse

How do you wear a pale yellow blouse? Really any way you like. I've paired it here with navy and a turquoise/ cobalt necklace, which totally brought this outfit to life. It was a little boring until  I added the necklace.

I've worn this blouse before with grey, mint, grey/black, and chartreuse. It would work well with hot pink too if you can be more creative and less conservative with your outfits.

Basics with a touch of gold

Shirt- Old Navy similar
sweater- Gap similar
jeans- Levis option
shoes- Ross  option  option
bracelets- Banana Republic, JCPenney, Ann Taylor  option
necklace- Chicos (thrifted)  option

It was 36 degrees Sunday morning but into the 70s by early afternoon. Those days always stump me as to what to wear. The answer is of course, layers. And you can bet a layer got peeled off that afternoon. I also wasn't feeling very creative, so I pulled some very basic pieces and put them together. It's amazing that basics with a few accessories always create an outfit that is beyond basic.

Red sweater again

It's the red sweater again. This time as a layer over my polka dot popover. Below are three other ways I've worn this sweater. I always seem to wear it with black but I could just as easily create this same outfit and the one below with the  pencil skirt with identical pieces in navy. Or pair it with camel or khaki or tan or...well, you get the idea. I'd say it's a pretty versatile piece.

Have you ever participated in a capsule wardrobe? There's a great explain of capsule wardrobe HERE. I sort of did that after completing my 30x30 remix for the fall season but I could not commit to just 37 pieces or even 44 or any arbitrary number that included shoes. 30x30 was tough trying to include a work wardrobe and an off duty wardrobe. So I think I basically came up with 40-50 work wear pieces that I worked through and this red sweater was one of them. So was the polka dot popover and the cobalt pants that you've seen the last three months. I'm still creating outfits from that capsule. I just didn't put it out here that I was doing that because I knew I'd deviate from it some. Our weather is too crazy as well. I doubt I could commit to a "winter" wardrobe from Jan. to March. It was 70 degrees today and by March I may have shorts out. Who knows? I was surprised that I started needing the sweaters sooner than I thought in the Oct-Dec period. All that said, it did certainly stop the shopping the last couple of months and makes life much easier to have a list of outfits to go to when I'm ready to pick an outfit for the day. What are your thoughts on capsules or wardrobe planning?

One more thing....that fur collar sweater is for sale on Poshmark if you are interested.

Both the blazer and sweater are thrifted. I would have never thought to pair these two pieces and colors if it had not been for pinterest. How did we ever get dressed before its conception?

I just don't have much to say this morning. I'm running on fumes because I've been up late the past two nights working on a big project. I'll let you in on it soon.
