Top ten of 2014

Even though I said I don't get real nostalgic about the end of a year, I thought I'd post a recap of the top ten posts of the year. It's always fun to look back at what was popular and what was not. So here are my top ten posts, in terms of views. They aren't necessarily my favorite outfits or posts, but something brought traffic to them nonetheless. It's apparent everyone likes remix posts.

30x30 recap

Here's all 30 outfits in one place. Look HERE for the original pieces. You can check each post September 1-30 for outfit details.

My thoughts? Doing this really got the creative juices going on putting together outfits and using pieces in ways I had not worn them before. I was able to put together way more than thirty outfits, but by about day 20 I was really bored with these pieces. I in no way want to limit my wardrobe to 30 pieces or even 37 for three months. I'll admit it's an intriguing idea but I just don't think I could do it. I have such a super conservative dress code for work that I needed more pieces than 30 combined for personal and work gave me. Some days I even need more flexibility for work- pants are better for some activities I will be performing than skirts and some days casual attire is allowed (but it's not attire I'd blog about- it's like standard uniform khakis and polo or button down and safe, functionable shoes, not anything I consider fashionable.)

I got really bored with the lack of options for off duty attire. I feel like I wore the same pair of jean three times a week. I didn't really but close. Some of the extra outfits were created from these thirty pieces and a couple of times I pulled something else from the closet to go with them. (Not all of the extras got photographed so they are not pictured.)

I did like the ease of having outfits put together ahead of time and having less options actually made that easier so I have given some consideration to the capsule wardrobe but instead of trying to limit myself entirely and packing away other things, I'll just be using the concept for creating outfits in the future with no self commitment to wearing only those items for a set number of days.

AND shoes- I love shoes. I did not like limiting my shoe choices. Shoes are accessories and some of my outfit ideas needed different shoes.

I hope that I don't come off as spoiled. I readily admit I have too many clothes and shoes and if God only blessed me with thirty items to wear, I'd happily wear them as I trust he would also give me peace and contentment in that. Thank you Lord for clothing me AND giving me options in that.

Leopard and black #30

Blazer- old option option
blouse- Ross option option option
shoes- DSW option option
necklace JCrew Factory

It's the final outfit of the 30x30! hoorah! This has been a great learning experience and has refueled the creativity, but I'm ready to move on and wear some different pieces. This last outfit is pretty basic- all neutrals, but the leopard has a little punch too it and a colorful statement necklace keep it from being too bland. The necklace is a recent sale purchase.

I'll being doing a recap of my 30x30 in a separate post so please check back.

Mauve and grey

Blouse- Worthington- thrifted option bird print sweater option option
pants- Belks option option
shoes- Belks option
necklace- made by me option option

Mauve and grey, or mauve and aluminum, if you want to be completely in line with the Pantone fall colors. No matter the label you give it, this soft combination works for me. AND, without even knowing this information prior to, I worked these colors into my 30x30 remix choices. Maybe Pantone should just consult me? LOL. I think these are just colors I gravitate towards naturally for fall anyway.

And here's a look back at how I  first wore this top last December:

Olive and red

Shirt- Loft (old) option
shorts- TJMaxx option option
shoes- Payless  option option
necklace- Forever 21 option
bracelet- Lulus option

I'm so happy for fall to be here but so confused about what to wear. It's comfortable enough for these shorts today, but by late evening I may want another layer. I guess I better be thinking about those transitional outfits because this is 27 of the 30x30 remix. Only three more days/outfits to go!

Leopard and grey

Blouse- Ross  option  option
pants- Belks  option
necklace/earrings- Cato  option  option  option Kate Spade option
shoes- Belks option

We are seeing a lot of neutrals for fall, so I decided to try a pairing of leopard with grey. Two neutrals, right? I was looking for something a little different with accessories just to change up the 30x30 mix a little, and came up with pale pink. Blush and pale pink are two more colors we will be seeing a lot of for the fall. It's a little unexpected, but I think the mix of the three work.

The "to wear" list

Blouse- Loft (old)  option  option
jeans- Loft  option  option
shoes- Payless  option  option  option
watch- Fossil  similar
bracelet- Target  option  option

Some version of white jeans and my olive top has been on my "to wear" list ever since I pinned this outfit. (Do you have a "to wear" list? You know, all those pins and outfits you've come up with but need to appropriate time or occasion to wear? This happens to me a lot with casual attire since I spend so much time in work wear.)

I was glad that these pieces are in my 30x30 remix and that this finally came together. I also think the olive top is a great way to take white jeans into fall, escpecially in our climate where it doesn't really feel like fall. Speaking of fall- Happy Fall!

Casual day

shoes- Payless  option  option
purse- gift option  option

I have a couple of days off work this week, both for random personal things. They just happened to be back to back, so you will be seeing some casual outfits the next couple of days. A button up shirt is another versatile piece. It's been a go to in my work wardrobe, but paired with jeans it's instantly casual.

Here's one of the recent work looks:

Orange skirt take two (and a little deviation)

Shirt- Loft  option  option
skirt- thrifted  option  option
shoes- TJMaxx option
clutch- thrifted option  option  option
necklace- Lulus  option option

Okay, I admit it - I cheated a little on my 30x30. These shoes aren't part of my 30x30 choices. I could have just taken photos with the leopard pumps on and you would not have known any better, but I'm being real and honest and posting exactly what I wore. Whenever I wear bright colors or two sharp contrasting colors, I like to keep the shoes neutral with nude. And I'm tired of rotating out the two pairs of heels. One thing I 've learned from this 30x30 challenge is that I don't like being limited on shoes. Shoes are accessories for me.
